Members of the ACTNOW consortium took part in the MASTS 2025 Annual Conference in Glasgow, one of the leading gatherings for the marine science community in the UK. The event brought together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to discuss advances in marine ecology, ocean management, and climate-related challenges across regional and global scales.

ACTNOW Project Stand

Throughout the conference, ACTNOW hosted a dedicated project stand, offering attendees the opportunity to learn more about the project’s objectives, methodologies, and case study regions. Consortium members engaged with researchers and stakeholders, sharing insights into ACTNOW’s work on cumulative impacts, ecosystem modelling, and science-to-policy pathways.

Scientific Contribution

ACTNOW researcher James Harris delivered a talk titled “Catching Up: Shetland as a Case Study for Sandeel Spatiotemporal Abundance Trends”. His presentation highlighted emerging findings from ACTNOW’s research on forage fish dynamics in Northern waters, focusing on how environmental change and multiple pressures influence sandeel populations—an essential component of North Sea food webs.

Strengthening Collaboration

The conference provided valuable opportunities for networking and collaboration with the wider marine science community, reinforcing ACTNOW’s commitment to advancing knowledge, sharing tools, and supporting evidence-based ocean management across Europe.
