In May 2026, partners of the ACTNOW project gathered in Athens (Greece) for the consortium’s annual meeting. The encounter provided an important opportunity to review progress, share research findings, and strengthen collaboration as the project moves into its final phase.

Partners presented the latest results emerging from ACTNOW’s different work packages, highlighting advances in understanding cumulative impacts on marine biodiversity, ecosystem functions, and ecosystem services across European seas. These discussions underscored the breadth of expertise within the consortium and the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing complex environmental challenges.

A key focus of the meeting was synthesis: exploring how the knowledge generated across work packages can be effectively integrated to create a coherent picture of cumulative impacts and support evidence-based decision-making. As the project enters its final stage, partners also discussed how to maximise the impact of ACTNOW’s research and ensure that scientific outputs are translated into meaningful tools, recommendations, and outreach activities for stakeholders and policymakers.

Participants dedicated time to discussing the tools being developed within the project, examining how these approaches and resources can support marine ecosystem management. Beyond the scientific discussions, the annual meeting offered partners the chance to reconnect in person, exchange ideas, and strengthen relationships across the consortium. Informal conversations and social activities created space for new collaborations and reinforced the spirit of cooperation that underpins the project.
